HIDDEN RULES FOR GERMAN AND MANDARIN

The Mandarin Language has characters and not Alphabets as each character is a syllable and can even refer to a word by itself. The language dates back hundreds of years and has different dialects which leads on to the fact that Chinese have over 50,000 characters.

Words don’t change in Mandarin. In other languages like English, a work could have different forms but in Mandarin that’s not the case. The verbs and adjectives all stay put. For Example, here the verb is 去 (qù) which stands for Go and if you notice it stays in the same consistent form no matter what other changes come in the sentence.








Another fact to ensure about about this Language is that, it is topic prominent (Chineseboost.com, 2017). The sentence starts with what the main point is unlike in English where the subject or the doer is put first.

Since Mandarin has a consistent set of words no matter the tense, or other factors – here are some basic words that you can use without considering the sentence they are a part of :

Another interesting tip is that the verbs will be in the 2nd position of the sentence all the time, unless you use “weil” (because) or “dass” (that) – in which case it will be pushed to the end of the sentence (FluentU German, n.d.).
